Quad Track
This is the biggest tractor on the farm.
It has a 500hp engine. Horsepower is a way to describe how much work an engine can do.
The size of early farm tractors was usually counted in horsepower (HP). This meant that farmers could compare the pulling power of a tractor with that of a horse.
A small family car is about 90hp so you can see that our Quad track is very powerful. We use it mostly for preparing our seedbeds for planting, when it pulls heavy machinery.
Click on the picture of the Quad Track. You will see that it has crawler tracks instead of large wheels and tyres. These help the heavy tractor to cover the ground without pressing too far into the surface.
