Organic Water Buffalo
Our Water Buffalo originally descend from Asian Buffalo, like those in India and Pakistan.
They are called Water Buffalo because in the wild they inhabit swampy wet areas. We have a herd of 225.
Our Buffalo are very tame, friendly and curious animals and can live for over 20 years. They are quieter than many cattle and do not kick when being milked, unlike some cows we know! Water Buffalo are milked in the dairy parlour.
Their milk is very rich and creamy and makes delightful cheese and ice cream. They are kept just the same way that we keep our other cattle except that they are larger and stronger. This means even though they are good tempered animals our hedges, fences, gates, and even the milking parlour have to be reinforced to handle them safely.
