What is Organic Farming
That is what we do here at Laverstoke Farm. We farm like they used to in the old days but we use modern equipment to make us efficient, such as tractors, ploughs etc. Our animals have happy outdoor lives and are not kept in sheds or fed with chemicals and synthetic foods.
SO...
if our soil is good and we grow food without chemicals, we believe that it must be good for you too! You would not want to eat chemicals would you? And our animals do not eat chemicals either so they are healthy and good for you too - and the more they poo the better it is for the soil! Some farmers give their animals medicine every single day even though they are not sick, just to try to make the most money; if it is fed to the animal and we eat the meat or milk or eggs from these animals as well, we eat all those antibiotics too. Some farmers also give their animals chemicals to make them grow faster and we do not want to eat those either.
We believe that if you eat food that is fresh and grown without chemicals, you will grow up being healthy and strong. You will also know that the farms growing crops and animals organically are not hurting the world in which we live; they are helping it. We hope you think that the way we farm is important too.
